Red Apple Real Estate recently began foundation work on The Residences at 400 Central. The 46-story mixed-use tower in downtown St. Petersburg will have 1.3 million square feet of interior space. The building will have 301 condominiums, a rooftop observatory, retail, restaurants and Class A office space. Above-ground construction of the tower is expected to begin in early 2023.

Initial site work and underground testing have been completed on the site. The foundation will have drilled test pilings. A series of 89 cylindrical drilled foundation shafts will support the tower, and the shafts will range from 48 inches in diameter and 87 feet deep to 6 feet in diameter and 166 feet deep. The first stage of the construction of the foundation is anticipated to be complete in the next few months.
