ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Construction is halfway done on 400 Central, and News Channel 8 got a behind-the-scenes look into what’s soon to be the highest place to live on Florida’s west coast.

“I’ve always been a person that wants to create wow buildings, you know what I wow building is?,” 400 Central owner John Catsimatidis explained. “A building you look at and say wow I want to live there.”

Catsimatidis said when it’s completed, the building will be 46 stories high.

Though he may be from New York, he fell in love with St Pete.

“That’s the message I’m getting out to northeasterners New Yorkers, Pennsylvanians, New Jersey people, that St. Pete is a bargain,” Catsimatidis explained.

400 Central will be a full-service, luxury condominium tower designed for residents who are looking for an upbeat urban lifestyle in the center of St. Petersburg.

“I love the museums, I love being able to walk around and you know it’s the biggest secret in the world in Florida,” he said.

This is just the beginning, Catsimatidis said he still has a lot to work to do in St. Pete.

“We’re looking at 3-4 other locations and we’re going to put in a billion dollars over the next 5 years,” he explained.
